A kind and gentle heart stopped beating as Timothy Younk rejoined his Lord and his family on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Growing up in Green Bay, Tim loved attending the YMCA and being a counselor at the day camp. So he followed his dream of working for the Y and attended George Williams College in Downers Grove, Illinois getting an undergraduate degree in social work/group work and recreation. After graduation, his first job was at the Toledo YMCA, as youth director, after a few years he transferred to Hamilton, Ohio, again as youth director, and later was promoted to Executive Director of the Fairfield, Ohio YMCA. While in Hamilton, he met his soul mate, Carolynne, who was the Assistant Director/social worker for the Big Brothers-Big Sisters program housed in the Hamilton YMCA. With both of them being from Wisconsin, they became fast friends and were married after a very short engagement. A few years later, their son, Eric, was born and it became very important to move back to Wisconsin to be with family. They settled in Green Bay where Tim grew up.
Tim's other love was food service and he served as general managers at several fast food restaurants in Green Bay, but one of his greatest accomplishments was graduating from the Green Bay Catholic Diocese's Commissioned Ministry programs in Religious Education. Service to God and mentoring youth were important to Tim and he became the Religious Education Coordinator at several different area churches.
Tim's philosophy has been that the date of birth and the date of death are not as important as the dash in between the two. How one lived one's life, the love of family and friends were the measures of what that dash meant. People remembered Tim (Carolynne always said she could "never take him anywhere that he didn't know someone"), even when he met someone from his very early days at the downtown Green Bay YMCA.
Tim is survived by his wife, Carolynne; their son, Eric (Jenny); three grandchildren: Aiden, Evan and Caitlyn, that he dearly loved. He is survived by many cousins.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at GranCare and Unity Hospice; and they would also like to thank Mary Fameree, who was Tim's caregiver for 2 years and a special friend.
