Listen to Obituary

Thomas A. Slusarek, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2026 surrounded by his family. He fought the good fight until the very last day. He passed at the home he lived in all 81 years, the original homestead in Suamico.

He was born on March 6, 1945, to the late Bernard and Mary Slusarek. Tom worked on the family farm and was also a gifted carpenter. He could build anything from toy boxes and Lego tables for his grandkids, to building homes with his brother. He had a great passion for craftsmanship and it showed in everything he built. It's truly impossible to imagine what his hands all built over the years.

Everyone that knew Tom knew he was a man of few smiles, but there was no doubt he loved his family dearly. Whether he showed that love through handcrafted wedding gifts, children's toys, or home remodels, or his playful banter while the family watched the Packers and Brewers. And he enjoyed watching his birds, and caring for his plants; particularly his Marigold's and Petunias. Tom was a man of faith, and he recently felt the presence of St. Francis when he awoke to a huge number of birds all by his window.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Monica, their five children and their spouses, Tammy (Bryan) Fischer, Martin Slusarek, Jeremy Slusarek, Cynthia (Eric) Van Laanen and Katey Schroeder. Their nine grandchildren, Rebecca Schroeder, Adam Schroeder, Ava Van Laanen, Morgan Van Laanen, Ethan Van Laanen, Bentley Slusarek, Austin Slusarek, Caleb Slusarek, and Rachel Fischer and one great granddaughter, Sariyah Joy. He is further survived by two sisters, Monica Kontny, Bernardine (Russell) Walske, his sister-in-law, Carleen Slusarek and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary, and his brother, Donald Slusarek.

Tom's Visitation will be held on July 24, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Benedict's Catholic Church (3370 Deerfield Ln, Suamico, WI 54173). With his Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 AM, with Fr. James Nielson officiating.

Tom's Family would like to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice, especially Bailey, for all of their kind and compassionate care.
