With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Thomas D. Phillips, age 77, who departed this life on August 27th 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A man of deep strength, kindness, and humility, Dad was loved dearly by all his children. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and curiosity-qualities that shaped the lives of those who knew him.
Born in 1948, Tom proudly served his country as a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. His years in service reflected his unwavering sense of duty and honor-qualities that carried through every part of his life.
After his military service, he channeled his skills and passions into fixing cars, tinkering with electronics, and building intricate model train layouts -hobbies that brought him joy and served as a quiet expression of his creativity and patience. He was a man who could take anything apart and put it back together better than before. In many ways, that’s what he did for the people around him too.
But above all, Dad loved his family. His children were the light of his life, and he never let a day pass without showing how proud he was of each of them. Whether through a quiet word, a warm laugh, or a steady presence in times of need, he gave his love unconditionally.
As we remember him, we find comfort in the words of 2 Timothy 4:7:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
He is survived by Jennifer, Matthew, Thomas J and Eric and many others who were blessed to know him.
A memorial service will be held at Newcomer Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 4 PM, where we will celebrate a life lived with honor, hands that never stopped working, and a heart that never stopped giving. The celebration of Tom's life will continue after the service until 6 PM.
Rest in peace, Dad. Your tools may be set down, but the work of your love lives on in all of us.
