Susan Marie Nikolas, age 70, of Green Bay, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025. Sue was born on January 18, 1955, in Aberdeen, South Dakota and from that moment on, the world was just a little bit brighter and a whole lot funnier.
A daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and woman of God, Sue’s life has been a beautiful collection of loud laughter, shared stories, strong faith, dedicated care, and a heart that somehow always had a little more to give. Whether you knew her for five minutes or fifty years, chances are she made you laugh, told it like it was, and offered a warm smile or goofy face.
She brought light wherever she went. Not in a quiet candle-glow kind of way, but in a “fireworks on a Tuesday” kind of way. She swore creatively, cared deeply and laughed with her whole being. Susie loved fiercely and unapologetically, whether you were a family member walking on two legs or maybe even more so, fur-covered on four.
Born to the late Joseph and Marie, Susie rounded out the family of six as a surprise-delivery of twins. She is survived by her sister, Marcia Baeten, twin brother, Steve (Debbie) Nikolas; nieces and nephews, Stuart (Tammy) Nikolas, Phillip (Bobbi) Nikolas, Rikki Lynn (Erin) Fabry, Tina (Peg) Baeten, Joseph Nikolas III, Angie Emrey, and Tyler (Noelle) Nikolas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie, siblings Ken, Joe and Rick.
More than anything, Sue should be remembered with laughter — the kind that makes your eyes water and your stomach ache. Even as the end of her story neared, she found a joke to crack with the physical therapists she dreaded time with, sent a selfie to show off her latest creative hospital hair style, and made everyone who loved her laugh through even the most devastating news.
When you think of her, tell a funny story, show a little more care where it’s needed or give your favorite four-legged pal an extra long squeeze. That’s how she’d want to be celebrated.
Per her wishes, there will be no services held. Donations can be made in Sue’s name to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
