Scott Filipek

November 20, 1950 — July 20, 2025

De Pere

Scott Charles Filipek, 74, of De Pere, WI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 20th. A service will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel on Saturday, August 2nd. Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm with service to follow at 12 pm. The service will be livestreamed. To view the service, visit Scott's obituary on this website at the time of service (12 NOON) and click on the livestream link.

Scott was born in New Prague, MN on November 20th, 1950, to his loving parents Louis and Lillian (Hughes) Filipek. During his 74 years of life, Scott played many roles: beloved son, brother, uncle, loyal friend, stepfather, grandfather, and even great grandfather. His family and friends meant the world to him. He was also fortunate enough to get to spend the last year and a half getting to know the newest addition to his family, great granddaughter, Luna. Each of his grandkids were “Grandpa’s special girl” and he showed that love for them every day. He was always there for his family, willing to help with a ride, advice, or simply an encouraging word. He also had corny “dad jokes” at the ready whenever a laugh, or an eyeroll, was needed.

In addition to spending time with his grandkids, Scott enjoyed the time he got to spend with his friends, especially at the morning coffee clutch or lunch at Pearly Gates. He also loved his trips to Costco and Sam’s Club. He always found something there to share! Another one of his favorite activities was relaxing on the balcony of his apartment watching the geese or the many birds that visited his feeders.

Scott held many positions over the years including that of foreman, carpenter, and owner of his own construction company. However, the position he was most proud of was that of an Army soldier with the 101st Airborne Division. He bravely served his country in Vietnam. That service was an integral part of his identity and something that will be recognized during his service.

Scott’s wife of more than 30 years, Pamela, passed away a few years ago. While they both departed from this world too soon for their families, they will forever be together in some place peaceful and will no longer feel the pain of missing each other.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, LuAnn Dvorak. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Heather Thomas, his granddaughters, Abby, Maya, and Madison, his great granddaughter, Luna, his niece, Jen Tollefson, and his nephew, Mike Dvorak.
