Rosemary Jane Baxter

March 24, 1943 — October 23, 2023

Rosemary "Rosie" Jane Baxter passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 80. She was born March 24, 1943, in Detroit Michigan. As an infant, she was adopted and raised by loving parents, Dorine and Kenneth Baxter.

Rosie grew up in Plainwell, Michigan and graduated from Plainwell High School, where she met and later married, Ronald "Ron" Van Atter. Together, they had three children; Kevin, Brenda, and Gregory. She and Ron moved to Iron Mountain Michigan area around 1980. Rosemary subsequently moved to Green Bay/Kewaunee WI area in 1992.

Rosie had a caring personality and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistance/Aide (CNA) in nursing homes and hospitals most of her life. As a CNA, she was very dedicated to her patients and loved by many of them and her co-workers.

Rosie loved her family and was a lover of animals and nature. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to her. She enjoyed taking care of her indoor cats and dogs for many years, watching and feeding the birds that visited outside her window, tending to and taking great pride in her flower garden. Her hobbies were crafting, sewing, playing games and surfing the internet on her computer. She also loved going on road trips and watching races at Road America in Elkhart Lake WI with her son and best friend, Greg. She was an avid lover of Wisconsin and Michigan's great outdoors, especially the Great Lakes.

She had a charming personality and left an imprint on those she met. Rosie will be deeply missed. She is survived by her sons, Gregory Van Atter (Stacy) of Appleton, WI; Kevin Van Atter of Alabama; Daughter, Brenda (Bob) Vanden Langenberg of Green Bay WI; and her former husband and dear friend Ronald Van Atter. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Baxter; and her Aunt, Lucille Krum.

Greg wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff and caregivers from Compassus Hospice in Green Bay WI and Kewaunee Health Center in Kewaunee WI for their care and compassion provided to Rosemary for the past few months of her life.

A special note of appreciation to the staff and Hailey at Newcomer Funeral Home. Their heartfelt guidance and sincere expressions of sympathy is genuinely appreciated. The extra measure of assistance provided will not be forgotten.

There will be no funeral or memorial service; however, keeping in mind Rosemary's love for animals and nature, please consider donating to an animal rescue, humane society or wildlife/nature center. Thank you.
