Ronald J. Eland, 90, of Green Bay, passed away on March 11, 2026 at Emerald Bay, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 17, 1935 to Elmer and Mildred (Barr) Eland in the same family farmhouse his mother was born in 19 years earlier. Ron spent many summers in Kewaunee helping his grandparents tend to the farm during his early years. Some of his most cherished memories of his childhood were driving horses, and later the John Deere tractor, through the hayfields on the farm.
Ron graduated from East High School in Green Bay in 1954. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted and served in the US Marine Corps. Upon his honorable discharge in 1956, he went on to serve in the reserves. Ron worked as a machine adjustor for Procter & Gamble in Green Bay for over 37 years. He was known at home and at work for his ability to fix almost anything—from paper machines to his kids’ toys.
On June 18, 1960, he married Darlene Louise Eland (DeVetter) at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. They were blessed with over 65 years of marriage.
Ron loved the outdoors, and especially loved spending time camping with his family in Northern Wisconsin and taking fishing trips to Canada. Ron and Darlene traveled the world together, seeing Europe, the Mediterranean, and destinations throughout the United States. A couple of his favorite trips included Pearl Harbor and Normandy.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; his children: Cheryl (Lisa) Czech, Barbara Eland, Sandra (Mark) Groeschel, Laura Eland-Gienapp, David (Colleen) Eland; his grandchildren: Matt, Mike, and Adam Czech, Meghan Beau, Molly Vollmer and Andrew Groeschel, Damien and Nick Gienapp, and Landon and Reed Eland; his six great-grandaughters: Tessa, Lillie, Norah, Harlow, Elowynn, Adella, and one great-grandson on the way; his siblings: Carol (the late Pete) Hauterbrook, Jill (the late Dave) McClure, Dave (JoAnn) Eland and Kathy Eland; Ron is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Ron is preceded in death by his father, Elmer Eland and his mother, Mildred Eland.
In lieu of floral arrangements, please make any memorial donations in Ron's name to the Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary or to any charity that is meaningful to you.
