Roger O. Otto

July 8, 1938 — November 11, 2022

Roger O. Otto age 84, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday November 11, 2022. He was born on July 8, 1938 in Fremont, the son of the late Henry and Edna (Wohlt) Otto. He graduated from Weyauwega High School and joined the Marine Corp. He proudly served our country from 1956 until 1959, his time served brought him to Hawaii and Japan. Roger was united in marriage in 1963 to Joan Weiss at Hope United Church of Christ. Both were baptized and confirmed at Hope UCC and were high school sweethearts. They resided in Appleton for several years and later moved into the country which furthered his passion for the outdoors.

Roger was a plumber by trade and an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, both duck and deer, cutting fire wood and just being outdoors. He was an avid trap shooter and would spend hours reloading his own shells. Roger loved dogs, "they were good people." He always had a loving Labrador by his side. He would often be found playing cribbage with his family. Roger and the family often went camping, and took different trips out West.

Roger is survived by his wife, Joan of almost 60 years, two sons: Tim (Lisa) and Luke (Sharon) Otto; four grandchildren: Jenna (Jake) Buege, Olivia, Owen, and Jake Otto; two brothers-in-law: Gary (Fran) Weiss and Ward (Wendy) Weiss; sister-in-law, Diane Hammer, and further survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wayne Otto, brother-in-law, Bill (Lynn) Weiss, and sister-in-law, VerLee Weiss.

Friends and family may visit at Hope UCC, 8950 Alpine Rd Fremont, on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 5:00 pm with Rev. Nancy Zorn Micke. Military Honors will follow the service.
