Robert W. Brecken

July 17, 1939 — February 17, 2023

Robert "Bob" Wayne Brecken, age 83, of Shawano, WI, passed away peacefully with loved ones at his side on Friday, February 17, 2023. Robert was born on July 11, 1939, to Wilford and Odelia (Nussbaum) Brecken. He was a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather.

Together with his siblings, Jean Ellen and Wilford Jr. (Bill), Bob was raised on the Brecken family farm in the Town of Lessor, and attended Bonduel High School. He grew up enjoying farm life, but after graduation started working at Phoenix Overhead Door. Not enjoying factory work, he soon got back to the farming community and worked for many years in sales at the Farmers Implement in Shawano. He really enjoyed helping area farmers procure and maintain their farm equipment, and built many friendships that lasted for years.

A close family friend introduced Bob to his future wife, Judy, and they were united in marriage on May 1, 1965. Bob forever referred to Judy as his "bride," even after 57 years. They enjoyed married life and raised one daughter, Kristie Lee. Bob was a great support for his wife, and loved being a part of Kris and Dave's lives, as well as the lives of his three grandchildren, Dillion, Cassidy, and Hunter. Bob had a magnetic, positive personality, and was loved by all he met. When asked how he was doing, he often responded, "FANTASTIC, and getting better every day!" He was the first to share a beaming smile and a big hug!

Bob was a very active and supportive member of Jehovah's Witnesses, serving as a much-loved elder in the local congregation for years. He loved the truths he learned from the Bible, and regularly volunteered time each week to teach others those truths. He had strong faith, and looked forward to the Bible's promise of living in peace forever on a paradise earth, eagerly looking forward to the Bible's promised resurrection, when those lost in death will be restored to us.

Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy; daughter Kristie Lee Kuettel of Hortonville; three grandchildren: Dillion (Cassie) Kuettel; Cassidy Kuettel, and Hunter Kuettel; brother Bill (Joan) Brecken; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sibling, Jean Brecken Klapper, and son-in-law, David Kuettel.

A visitation for Bob will be held, Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 1:30 to 3 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, N4764 Willow Lane, Shawano, WI 54166. To leave an online condolence for the family, please visit www.NewcomerGreenBay.com.

Bob's family would like to thank relatives and friends for their loving support, along with the staff at Theda Care Hospital in Shawano, the residents and staff at The Cottages Assisted Living, and Moments Hospice Care of Madison for all of their wonderful, loving care.
