Richard “Rick” Morein, 77, of Green Bay, passed away with his wife by his side on June 14, 2026.

He was born on December 10, 1948, to Melvin “Buddy” and Estelle Rochelle “Violet” (Lonn) Morein in St. Louis, Missouri. Rick graduated from Clayton High School in 1966 before entering the United States Navy, where he proudly served for four years as an E-5 Petty Officer aboard the USS Aylwin during the Vietnam War. He was proud to be part of the ship’s first crew, helping bring the newly commissioned vessel into service.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Rick attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he studied photography and, most importantly, met the love of his life, Nan Huber. On March 28, 1981, Rick and Nan were united in marriage, beginning a beautiful life together that would span more than 45 years.

Rick and Nan eventually settled in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where Rick built a career in broadcast media, advertising, and internet services. His career spanned positions at WBAY, WLUK, and Infinity Technology in the Green Bay area.

Rick was creative, passionate, funny, and full of life, with a deep love of photography, music, guitar, magic, cats, technology, and storytelling. Magic held a special place in his heart. He was a member of the Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood, California, the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and the Society of American Magicians, and was deeply involved with IBM Dr. Lynn Miner Ring 398, where he served as secretary, vice president, and president-elect. Most recently, Rick devoted his time and talents to helping plan and produce events for the 2026 “Year of Houdini,” commemorating the 100th anniversary of Houdini’s passing.

Rick’s family was at the center of his life, and he loved being a father. Raising his two children, Lane and Maxwell, was his greatest joy, and he was deeply proud of the people they became. As a father, he gave them his whole heart — his creativity, humor, passion, and unwavering love.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Nan; his two children, Lane (Tricia) and Maxwell (Jessica); and one granddaughter on the way. He is further survived by his beloved kittens, Buddy and Maple.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Paul and Midge Huber; and his beloved kittens, Tashie, Lily, Gigi, and Honey.

Private services are being held. A Celebration of Life will be planned in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Youth Magic Scholarship Fund (magician.org/donate), so Rick’s love of magic and the joy it brought him can live on for generations to come. Rick’s memory can also be honored by planting a tree in his name.
