Richard G. Besaw, 72, of Suamico, passed away peacefully after a long battle with lung cancer, on May 3, 2025 surrounded by his family at home. He was born on January 14, 1953 to the late Roland and Elizabeth (Enderby) Besaw in Green Bay. Rick graduated from Southwest High School in 1971, and remained close with many of his friends through all these years. On March 2, 1985, he married Diane Dobry. Rick was in beverage sales for over 20 years. He later started Showcase Masonry and enjoyed being the owner for over 20 years. Fishing was a big deal for Rick. Going on an annual fishing trip to Canada, and spending lots of time on many lakes up north. He was a life long Packer fan, and spent many Sundays tailgating at Kevin's Packer House. Rick was an amazing host, a Friday fish fry, a Booyah cook out-as he was known as The Booyah King, anything to get his friends and family together. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Diane, two daughters: Kate (Lee) Coffey and Megan (Mike) O'Connor; five grandchildren: Olivia, Claire, Charlie, McKenna, and baby boy on the way, three siblings: Donna (Mike Shelton) Besaw, Brad Besaw, and Debbie Besaw-Kerry; one sister-in-law, Jackie (Brian) Wilson; and his constant companion, Gracie; he is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Besaw, mother and step-father, Elizabeth (Donald) Amenson; two brothers-in-law: David Dobry and Fred Kerry, sister-in-law, Tina Vallier, and parents-in-law, John and Lucille Dobry.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 340 S. Monroe Ave. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 2:30 pm until 5:00 pm with memorial service following at 5:00 pm.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Burnette and the entire team at Green Bay Oncology, his wonderful nurse Bailey and the Unity Hospice team. To all the friends and family that offered support during this difficult time in our lives; whether it was taking him out for lunch or just stopping by to say hi; your kindness made a difference.
Rick's famous line, "I know a guy..." was exemplified by the many people who continuously showed up for him over these past few years.
