Raymond Wayne Shuma passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Ray was born November 22, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey and grew up in Nanticoke, PA. He joined the Air Force on November 8, 1960 and retired from the Air Force on December 1, 1980. Ray served three tours in Vietnam.
Ray married Karen DeWolfe, a Green Bay native, on August 8, 1972 at Robins AFB, GA. When Ray retired from the Air Force, they moved to Green Bay where he attended NWTC, worked for the AC Nielsen's, Prange Way, and the Green Bay Press Gazette before retiring in 2003.
Ray enjoyed traveling, golfing with his brother-in-law, and watching the Green Bay Packers (a converted Eagles fan). He had a rare, quick wit and loved to joke with everybody. He had a fondness for animals of all kinds ad gave a home to two dogs and several cats. His pride and joy was his first dog, a collie named Brandy.
Surviving are his nephews, Gary (Niki) DeWolfe, Mark Shuma and Scott Shuma and his wife, Deborah Shuma; niece, Donna Janquart; and Godson, Davis DeWolfe.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Karen Shuma; his parents, Peter and Beatrice Shuma; his brother, Peter and his wife, Dorothy Shuma, and his brother, Robert Shuma; and his nephew, Kevin.
At Ray's request there will be no visitation or funeral services.
Anybody wishing may donate a contribution to Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary at E5714 Bork Road, Marion, WI; or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
