Phyllis M. Sconzert, formerly known as Phyllis Mae Kimball, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. She was born on November 3, 1933, to Elmer and Gladys (Zahrt) Kimball at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.

Phyllis graduated from Seymour High School in 1951; she furthered her studies at the Mt. Sinai School of Nursing, where she earned her degree and became a Registered Nurse in 1954. Her career in nursing saw her working at numerous hospitals and clinics, reflecting her commitment to the well-being of her community. Phyllis had the honor of serving at prominent health care institutions, including Mt. Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee, ThedaCare in Neenah, Herrick Memorial Hospital in Berkeley, California, St. Agnes Hospital in Fond Du Lac, Bellin Hospital, Beaumont Clinic, and St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

On August 16, 1958, she united in marriage with Lyle W. Sconzert at St. Paul Methodist Church in Seymour. They were blessed with four children. Phyllis enjoyed being a Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack 41, Den 1. Throughout her life, Phyllis nurtured her faith, becoming a devoted member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, where she found community and fellowship.

In retirement, she continued to improve the health of others by enrolling in the Harvard Nurses' Health Study, among the largest investigations into the major risk factors in cardiovascular diseases in women. Along with Lyle, she participated in Learning in Retirement (now Lifelong Learning) at University of Wisconsin - Green Bay.

Phyllis was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables, she nurtured her love of gardening and passed it along to her family members, neighbors, and friends. She spent much of her time enjoying nature and bird watching. Her favorite bird to see was a cardinal.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Lyle Sconzert; her children: David (Julie) Sconzert, Bill (Kathy) Sconzert, Bob Sconzert, Karin (Tim Morton) Sconzert; grandchildren: Jenna Sconzert, Sam (Katie) Sconzert, and William Morton; step-grandchildren: Bob (Carrie Hager) Siebert and Jenni Siebert; great-grandson: Troy Sconzert; step great-grandchildren: Alex (fiancée Emilie Pludeman) Hager and Madison (special friend Josh) Peters; in-laws, Audrey and Norman McGarvie. Phyllis is further survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Gladys Kimball; her step-mother, Helen (Kitchenmaster) Kimball; siblings: William (Ann) Kimball, Charles (Joan) Kimball; Helen (Lee) Montoure, Bob (Jeanette) Kimball, Doris (Earl) Woldt; father-in-law, Albert Sconzert; mother-in-law, Mabel Sconzert; step mother-in-law, LaVerne Sconzert; step brothers-in-law: Dan (Nancy) Schauer, Larry Schauer, and Ron (Jan) Schauer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made in Phyllis' honor may be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Green Bay Botanical Gardens, or Unity Hospice.

Family and friends will have the opportunity to gather for Visitation on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Our Saviour Lutheran Church (120 S Henry St, Green Bay, WI 54302). A Memorial Service for Phyllis will follow immediately at 11:00 AM. Phyllis will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Allouez, WI.
