Peter A. LeMere, of both Green Bay and Egg Harbor, WI, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 5, 2026 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born September 23, 1933 in Sturgeon Bay, WI, son of the late Joseph "Bub" and Margaret (Parent) LeMere and was a graduate of Gibraltar High School, Class of 1951.
Peter continued his education at St. Norbert College, earning his Bachelor's Degree. Peter later attended the University of Wisconsin and then earned his Master’s Degree in Public Health at the University of Michigan.
He was united in marriage to Marian Honold, May 14, 1960. They were blessed to have 65 years as husband and wife, welcoming 3 children into their family.
Peter spent most of his career working in public health for the Appleton and Green Bay Health Departments before retiring from the Brown County Health Department. At the young age of 62, Peter earned his Commercial Driver’s License and pursued his childhood dream of being a semi-truck driver. In his “retirement” he drove for the Clark Cartage Company, then Potts Transport for two decades.
Throughout his life, Peter's greatest passion was volunteering. Among the many organizations to which he donated his time, he was most recently involved with Egg Harbor Historical Society, Friends of Plum Island and Door County Maritime Museum.
Peter is survived by his wife, Marian; 3 children: Gail (Ed) Swiechowski, Jeff (Nikki) LeMere and Mike (Stacey) LeMere; 6 grandchildren: Daniel, Josh, Kirstin, Matt (Rachael) Flunker, Laney and Nate and 4 great-grandchildren: Madysen, Axton, Remi and Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul LeMere and in-laws Rose and Charles Honold.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4 to 6 PM. A prayer service will follow at 6 PM.
A second visitation will be held in his hometown at Stella Maris Parish (7710 WI HWY 42, Egg Harbor, WI), Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 9 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Peter will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Egg Harbor, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Friends of Plum Island, Door County Maritime Museum or Egg Harbor Historical Society in Peter's name are appreciated.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Unity Hospice and the Emplify Health Cardiac Care team for their incredible care and compassion. Thank you also to the amazing community of friends and family that have supported Peter's family through this difficult time.
