Norma Freeland, age 89, of Green Bay, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026. She was born on September 20, 1936, to the late James L. and Rena (Steinberger) Freeland in Manhattan, New York.
After moving to Green Bay in 1962, Norma and her sister, Rhoda, began studying the Bible and then were baptized together as Jehovah's Witnesses on August 15, 1964. In 1971 Norma became a "Regular Pioneer" and continued as such until her passing. Her focus and goal in life was to help others learn about God's Word. To support this commitment, she was employed for 40 years at the Willow Street Bakery in Green Bay. This enabled her to live a simple and humble lifestyle with joy and satisfaction. Although Norma was single all her life, she was never alone because she embraced her spiritual family of over 9 million "brothers and sisters". Norma's strong faith in her God, Jehovah, and the Bible, ensured her a safe place in God's memory, until the day of the Bible's promised resurrection. (John 5:28, 29) Then she will awaken to a paradise earth in perfect health. (Isa. 33:24; Rev.21:4)
Norma is survived by her brother, James Freeland, her nephew, James Freeland, her niece, Deborah Carloni and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Rhoda.
Norma's family and friends would like to thank the staff at Unity Hospice and The Court at Eden Vista for their care and support.
Memorial service will be held at East Green Bay Kingdom Hall, 2895 E. Mason St. on January 25, 2026. Visitation 6 -7:00 pm. Memorial talk at 7:00 pm.
