Nancy Unger

July 2, 1935 — November 24, 2024

Nancy Lucille Unger-Tyczkowski, 89, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024. She was born on July 2, 1935 to Algot and Lucille (Carlson) Kling in Foster City, MI.

Nancy graduated from Felch High School in Felch, MI in 1954. She went on to work in accounting and administration. She worked in a number of different fields, including health care, dentistry, and the dairy industry. In 1955, Nancy married James A. Unger and they were blessed with 2 boys, Mike and Steve, and a baby girl, Janice. Nancy and Jim enjoyed 44 years of marriage before Jim's passing in 2000. In 2004, Nancy married Ervin Tyczkowski.

Growing up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, her parents, Algot and Lucille, worked in the woods while Nancy enjoyed time with her cousins and friends. Nancy spent much of her childhood outdoors; climbing trees, swimming, and spending time with family at the lake. Family gatherings were very meaningful to her. Nancy's childhood home was always full with relatives and friends every holiday.

One of Nancy's greatest joys in life was raising her children and then watching her two sons go on to have families of their own. She loved being involved in their lives, and attended her children and grandchildren's sporting events, dance and band recitals, and school programs.

Nancy was an avid Packer's fan and looked forward to throwing Packer parties every game-day Sunday. She was an amazing cook and hostess. After retirement, Nancy was a member of a local card club. She also enjoyed going on bus trips, touring the United States. Her favorite places to visit were Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada. Nancy loved music, playing both the accordion and the piano. While in assisted living, her neighbors enjoyed listening to her play the piano.

Nancy is survived by her two sons, Michael J. (Linda) Unger and Stephen M. (Mary) Unger; 4 grandchildren: Lindsey (Bryan) Martin, Lance (fiancée Tesa) Unger, Paul (Rachael) Unger, and Laura (James) Kemmerling; 3 great-grandchildren: Nolan Martin, Emma Unger, and Jocelyn Unger; in-laws: Warren Unger, Richard (Julie) Unger, and Clyde Unger. Nancy is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Algot and Lucille Kling; husband, James A. Unger; daughter, Janice Unger; sister in-law Lola Unger; and 2nd husband Ervin Tyczkowski.
