Listen to Obituary

Anna Mae (Liebl) Ebben, affectionately known to all as “Midge”, passed away peacefully at home on October 26, 2025, surrounded by family.

Midge was born November 27, 1927, and loved by her adoptive parents in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul grade school and graduated from St. Joseph Academy with the class of 1945. Shortly after, she married Richard Schmitz and together they raised a family of six children, making their home in Allouez.

Midge lived an adventurous life across many states that includes far too many stories to share. Her vibrant personality, endless energy and infectious laugh was magnetic. Whether you were looking to play a game, share a round of golf- she may have cheated on occasion, though she’d never admit it- or enjoy a meal she meticulously prepared, fun was certain to be had. She gave her time and talents to many organizations over her 97 years including, but not nearly limited to, Service League of Green Bay, Green Bay West Rotary Club, Resurrection Catholic Parish, numerous bridge groups, her stock club, Neighborly Dance Club, Green Bay and Oneida Country Clubs. She traveled extensively across the globe, enjoying the finer things life had to offer for many years, including taking photos for the NFL and golfing, with husband, James Pressentin, who preceded her in death in May 2000. Midge married Bob Ebben in December 2002 and shared her later years in his company in both Wisconsin and Florida until his passing in 2022.

Family was central to Midge. She worked very hard to be present for as many events as she was able in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She prided herself on attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s graduations and weddings, along with birthdays, sporting events and anything else that came up. More recently, she thoroughly enjoyed the boat cruises up and down the Fox River with her children as they slowly moved back to the area.

Midge is survived by her six children: Jeannie Poehls, DePere, Julie (Gary) Albers, DePere, Peter (Carol) Schmitz, DePere, Paul Schmitz, Coral Springs, Fl., Jenny Buckles, DePere, Janet King, DePere. She is further survived by 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, from 9:30-10:45am at Resurrection Catholic Church (333 Hilltop Dr., Allouez). A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, with Fr. Bob Kollath and Fr. Tom Reynebeau officiating.
