Michael "Mike" John Flynn, 76, of Green Bay, passed away on April 25, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 27, 1949, to Milo and Marjorie (Luebeck) Flynn at Madigan General Hospital. He spent much of his childhood in Fort Lewis, Washington.
Mike later moved to Suring, Wisconsin, and was a star player on the Suring High School basketball team. He enlisted in the Marine Corps at 18 and served in the Vietnam War as a tank commander before being honorably discharged in 1970. Mike was wounded in action and earned a purple heart for his service. After his time in the war, he moved to Green Bay to attend NWTC and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology. He worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for over 25 years and retired from his position as a Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) supervisor. He also co-owned AM&M Surveying, a business he ran with two of his friends. He married his wife, Sheila, in 1982, and together they raised two children, Jesse and Molly.
Mike loved being in nature. He spent a lot of time hunting on his land in Oconto County and, in the summer, road tripping to Ontario with friends to fish. He also loved golfing and watching Judge Judy, the Brewers, and the Packers. He bonded with his son, Jesse, over their love of baseball and golf. He also loved animals, and took in several stray cats over the years, much to the delight of his daughter, Molly. Mike will be remembered by his friends and colleagues as being the ultimate jokester, and by his family as a devoted and hardworking husband and father.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his stepfather Matthew Mitchell; stepbrother Steve Mitchell; son Jesse; sister Nancy (Flynn) Kebschull; father-in-law Paul Reinhold, and beloved dogs Lucy and Milo.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sheila; daughter Molly (Ross Bartelt); stepson Charles (Anne) and granddaughter Augusta Farnsworth, brother Tim (MaLea); stepsiblings Timothy Mitchell, Steve Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell III, and Jody (Mitchell) Jenquin; mother-in-law LeVora Reinhold; brothers-in-law Gary Kebschull, Robert (Sandra) Reinhold, and Paul (Anne) Reinhold. He will also be missed by his niece Teri and nephew Todd Kiesling, along with many more friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mike's generosity and fun loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of life will be held at Ledgeview Community Center, located at 3700 Dickinson Rd, De Pere, on June 26, 2026 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
