Melissa Marie Schefe

Melissa Marie Schefe, 48, of Green Bay, passed away at home on April 29, 2026, after a brief but brave battle with ALS.

She was born on November 17, 1977, to her loving parents, Richard and Kathleen Maurer in Green Bay, WI.

She was a graduate of Southwest High School and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Melissa built her career in insurance with SIA Of the Great Lakes, LLC, dedicating almost 30 years amongst friends and colleagues.

On July 29, 2000, she married Kenneth James Schefe. Melissa and Ken built their life, home and family here in Green Bay. She was a devoted, caring and supportive wife and partner throughout her and Ken’s 30 years together.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Ken Schefe, her devoted children, Tyler, Alex and Madelyn Schefe, her four-legged son, Scout, as well as her father, Richard Maurer, siblings Megan (Nicholas) Crary, Mark (Angie) Maurer, brother and sister-in-law Steve Schefe and Kris (Bret) Wery, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins

She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Maurer, father -in-law Richard (Dick) Schefe, mother-in-law Susan Belleau.

Melissa will be remembered for the joy she found in being with both friends and family, as well as her love of sunshine and time spent by the water. She took great pride in watching her children grow and thrive in their passions - dance, photography, and exploring the outdoors—and cherished every moment of their happiness.

A deep and heartfelt thank you to her son, Alex, for his dedicated, loving and compassionate one-on-one care of Melissa through her ALS journey.

There will be a private service for family. Ken, Tyler, AJ and Maddy invite you to join them for a Celebration of Life in honor of Melissa on May 23, 2026 at Green Bay Botanical Gardens (2600 Larsen Rd, Green Bay, WI 54303) from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. All are welcome.
