Mary Ellen Lamers, age 76, of De Pere, was welcomed into her heavenly home, Friday, July 25, 2025, as a result of natural causes. She was born in Green Bay, WI, January 14, 1949, daughter of the late Gordon and Margaret (Barth) Stern. Mary was a graduate of Brillion High School, Class of 1967.
After graduation, she attended UW-Oshkosh for education. She was very proud of her working career thereafter. She worked at Ariens Company and later retired from Bay Valley Foods after many dedicated years of service. She married Richard G. Lamers, April 15, 1978 at the Lamers Family Farm in Kaukauna, WI. They shared 47 loving years of marriage, raising 4 children and caring for many others throughout the years.
Mary Ellen was a talented author, writing her autobiography in 2024, "Sunshine, Rain and Rainbows..... Memoirs of Mary Ellen Lamers." She was also gifted at crochet, making countless afghans and gifts for friends and family. She was well known for her fresh-baked bread and buns. Mary Ellen was meticulously organized, right down to her use of a ruler to make sure her script was precise. Mary Ellen was a woman of strong faith and was devoted to her daily prayer, a member of St. Mary Parish - Ledgeview and attending weekly Mass with her grandchildren at St. Francis-Xavier. She was very proud of her volunteer/charity work.
Mary is survived by her husband, Richard "Chet" Lamers; 4 children: Guy Lamers, Lori (Bobbi Jo) Lamers, Lynn Lamers and Chet (Becky) Lamers; her daughter, Amy (Joseph) Mosher-Garvey, who she was reunited with later in life; grandchildren: Paige, Caleb, Brinley, Gage, Eli, Bree (Tyler), Skylar, Dana "Isaac", Nathaniel, Austin, Elizabeth, Joshua, Jacob (Emma), Kieran, Aidan and Logan; great-grandchildren: Paisley, Grayson and Emilia and a brother, Mark Stern. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives of the Barth, Stern, Van Groll and Lamers families and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Gene and Delia (Van Groll) Lamers; sister-in-law, Audrey Stern, Rich's daughter, Peggy Sue Lamers, and special family friend, Barbara Mischler.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church (4805 Sportsman Dr., De Pere, WI), Friday, August 1, 2025 from 9 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM with Fr. Mike Ingold, celebrant and Fr. Richard Getchel, co-celebrant. She will be laid to rest in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown, WI.
