Mary Lou Carson was born Mary Lou Moore on May 19, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Ella Mae Carter-Moore and Julius Moore Sr., both of whom preceded her in death. From a very early age, Mary began her walk with the Lord, a faith that would guide her throughout her life.
Mary was an exceptionally bright and determined young woman, graduating from high school at just 16 years old. Shortly thereafter, she married her high school sweetheart, Melvin Colquitt. From that union, her first daughter, Quinette Colquitt-Dixon, was born, who preceded her in death.
In the 1960s, Mary migrated north in search of greater opportunities for herself and her family. In 1963, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.), beginning a long and dedicated career in healthcare. In 1970, she met her future husband, Albert Walker II. From that union, two children were born: Tera Walker-Jones and Albert Walker III.
After many years of faithfully serving in numerous nursing and leadership roles, Mary met the love of her life, Larry Carson, in 1989. The two married and shared the remainder of her years together in love and companionship.
Mary retired from nursing in 2003 and devoted her life more fully to ministry. That same year, she received her ordination, and in 2006 she earned her Doctorate of Divinity, continuing her lifelong commitment to faith, service, and uplifting others.
In 2019, Mary and Larry relocated to the Green Bay area to enjoy a quieter, simpler retirement together.
On March 2, 2026, Mary peacefully ended her long and courageous health battle, surrounded by the love of her family. She passed away with her devoted husband Larry, her daughter Tera, her son Albert, and other family members and friends at her side. Mary has now joined the angels in heaven.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone for their prayers, love, and well wishes during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to assist with Mary's final homegoing service, which will take place in the Chicagoland area. The date, location, and time will be announced at a later time.
Donations may be made via Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, or Apple Pay through Navy Federal (Tera Jones) at: 708-582-9933.
