Mary Ann Goessl

I, Mary Ann (Cigler) Goessl, age 91, of Green Bay, died on August 22, 2026. I was the daughter of Charles and Anna (Weber) Cigler and born on September 7, 1934, on the family farm. I was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kellnersville, Wisconsin.

I graduated from Rosecrans grade school, which was a one room and one teacher school. I graduated from Denmark High in 1951. I married Bob Goessl on December 29, 1953, on his furlough from the Army and then joined him where he was assigned at Fort Benning, Georgia. Our son, Tom, was born in Georgia.

Bob was discharged in 1955, and we settled in Green Bay. We were blessed with four more children - Jean, Mike, Dave and Amy. I was a stay-at-home mom while Bob pursued his barber education and soon started Goessl's Hairstyling on Gray Street.

We built a log cabin near Long Lake, Wisconsin, spending time in the outdoors. After Bob's retirement in 1990, we started wintering in Tucson, Arizona. We made many friends and enjoyed every day there. We ended our snowbird months in 2018.

I am survived by Bob and five children: Tom and Sharon Goessl, Jean and Jerry VanDenPlas, Mike Goessl, David Goessl and his fiancé Susan, and Amy and John Francois; grandchildren: Lori Peterson, Bill Goessl, Sara and Gary Brown, Katie and Mike Johnson, Ross and Brittney Goessl, Camille Goessl and Conner Stubbe, Aaron Francois and his fiancé Greta, and Addy Francois; great-grandchildren: Marin, Margaux and Maeve Brown, Isaac and Emmett Peterson, Sloane, Fitzgerald and Acre Johnson, Eli and Elena Goessl and Callum Stubbe. I am also survived by sister-in-law, Sister Joanne Goessl, and many nieces and nephews. 

I was preceded in death by my parents; two brothers, Charley and Donald Ciger; sister-in-law, Helen Cigler; two infant siblings; Bob's mother and father, Edward and Clara Goessl; Bob's sister, Jeanette Schultz, and her husband, Harold Schultz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 9th St, Green Bay, WI 54304. A time for friends and family to visit will begin at 9 AM until the time of mass at the church.
