Mardell May (Bowman) Schoepp, age 92, of Green Bay, peacefully passed away following a courageous battle with dementia with her daughter, Nadine, at her side on December 27, 2025. She was born on November 4, 1933 to Norman and Elsie (Schulke) Bowman.

Mardell graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1952. After graduation, she went on to start working for the Metropolitan Insurance Company where she worked customer service and applied her office skill training. In 1953, Mardell was engaged to her high school sweetheart, David Schoepp. They later married on May 29, 1954 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mardell and David were blessed with six children and 71 years of marriage before David's passing on November 13, 2025. Once her children were school-aged, Mardell returned to work as a devoted and passionate certified nursing assistant. She worked for 25 years at Bornemann's Nursing Home before her retirement.

Mardell was a devoted mother and wife, she was very involved in her children's education and enjoyed volunteering at the school, in the library, and also as a den mother for cub scouts and girl scout leader. She provided her children with many opportunities to learn new skills and talents, like music, swim, dance, tumbling, and camp. Mardell fostered the love of reading into the heart's of all of her children with monthly trips to the library.

Every summer, Mardell and David would bring their children on annual camping trips. The love of the outdoors led them to purchase a small cabin on Deep Woods Lake north of Antigo. With the help of their family, they rebuilt the cabin to become a place of family love and joy. She cherished the wild weed flowers that would spring up around the cabin. Mardell enjoyed the time spent with family, and especially loved playing Old Maid while snacking on peanut butter pretzels and soft popcorn with her grandchildren. Mardell had the gift of holiday magic and cherished the time spent with her family. Her traditional specialties were sherbet punch and pistachio fluff.

Mardell was a lifelong reader, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, Sodoku, and word searches. She was an avid Packer's fan and enjoyed cheering on the team. She loved to swim, go on walks, and most especially loved dancing. Her and David had many happy memories of doing the jitterbug together. Later in life, Mardell and David spent much time with their close friends at China Buffet. Most of all, Mardell loved being with her honey, David.

She is survived by her children: Michael (Joan) Schoepp, Lenore Younkle, Pamela (Bill) Noll, Lisa (Ron) Plog, and Nadine Schoepp; 17 grandchildren: Maiya, Jeremiah, Alicia, Nathan, Maria, Jacob, Anna, Marques, Isaiah, Rebekah, Samuel, Josiah, Graham, Krysta, Tarrah, Justin, and Alyssa; 22 great-grandchildren; her sister, Lois Mellen; and son-in-law, Gary Weber. Mardell is further survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, other loved ones, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, David Schoepp; her daughter, Michelle May Weber; her parents, Norman and Elsie Bowman; son-in-law, David Younkle; her grandchildren, Michael Schoepp Jr. and Ashley Plog; and brother-in-laws, Richard Mellen and Larry Allen.

The family would like to express a special thank you to her sister, Lois and her cousin, Faye, who spent time with mom and helped her recall early childhood memories. Mardell's family would also like to show their gratitude for special helpers Amber and Amy, Cornerstone, Allouez Senior Living, Unity Care Companions and Unity Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

In honor of Mardell's love for reading and of her mother being born in a sod house on the prairie, Mardell's family would like to donate Little House on the Prairie books in her memory. Memorial contributions may be made directly to the family.
