Mabel "Mae" A. McCarthy

January 22, 1945 — August 1, 2025

Green Bay

Mabel "Mae" (Beauchamp) McCarthy, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, left her home for Heaven surrounded by family on Friday, August 1, 2025. She was born in Flint, MI, in 1945, grew up in Marquette, MI, and settled in Green Bay, WI., in 1970. She was 80 years young.

Mae’s passion for helping others was renowned in her career as a nurse. She served the Greater Green Bay Area for over 30 years with Bellin as a registered nurse, supervising nurse, and administrator. She was instrumental in the creation of what was once 3 West to what is now known as Bellin Psychiatric Center. She took great pride in helping to aid in the mental health crisis in her area.

Mae treasured her family and was known for her cleanliness. Her family always joked that “Better Homes and Garden” could do a photo shoot any day at any time. She loved to play cards and was a wicked opponent at bridge. She enjoyed playing games of all sorts with her family, especially cribbage, gin, poker, UNO, and Chase the Ace. Her grandchildren will forever remember the chocolate chip cookies she made for them often. Mae had a deep faith in God and was a long-time (almost founding) member of Resurrection Catholic Parish in Allouez.

Mae is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Anne Beauchamp; her brother, Glenn; and a nephew. She is survived by her daughters, Lori and Michelle, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her sister, Becky; sister-in-law, Tinky, and nieces and nephews.

There will be no funeral or wake service, but there will be a Celebration of Life held in her honor September 27, 2025 with the time to be determined.

Friends may direct memorial gifts to Unity Hospice https://unityhospice.org/donate, Bellin College of Nursing https://www.bellincollege.edu/support/online-donations/, or to the family who will forward contributions in Mae’s memory. The family is being assisted by Newcomer Funeral Home in Green Bay. Mae’s remains will be laid to rest in the family plot at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Marquette, MI.

A special thanks to the staff at both Bellevue Retirement Community and Unity Hospice.
