Louis LeCalsey III, 87, of Humboldt, WI was taken home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 31, 2026. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 25th, 1939 to parents Louis LeCalsey, Jr and Mildred Gertrude (Lee) LeCalsey. He was also preceded in death by his lifetime best friends: Howard Miller from Philadelphia, PA and Aldo Santaga of Green Bay, WI. And Dan DeKeyser of Green Bay, WI and Joe Thompson of Oshkosh, WI from his slightly newer friends, with a list too long to publish.
Lou is survived by his sister Carolyn (LeCalsey) Eachus of Lancaster, PA and his wife of over 46 years, Susan (Sue) Marlene (Latsha) LeCalsey, and their children: Scott Louis LeCalsey and his wife Mary Margaret (Buda) LeCalsey of Ave Maria, FL; Christopher Robert LeCalsey and his wife Cheryl Marie (Miller) LeCalsey of St. John's, FL; Kara Nicole (LeCalsey) McNamee and husband Daniel Gish McNamee of Lampeter, PA; and Paul David LeCalsey with his wife Paula Sue (Heimerman) LeCalsey of Andover, MN.
Lou had 8 grandchildren and the 4th great grandchild is on her way. Scott's children: Austin Jacob LeCalsey and his wife Kimberlie Ann (McGowen) LeCalsey of Gretna, NE and their children Luca William LeCalsey and Lilianna Marie LeCalsey. And daughter Alexis Jordan LeCalsey of Omaha, NE and her son Ryder Louis Hunt and baby sister on her way. Chris's children: Carmen Margaret LeCalsey, Connor Robert LeCalsey and Cullen Michael LeCalsey all of St. Johns, FL. Kara’s children: Quinn Jacob Benner and Tessa Rose McNamee of Lampeter, PA. And Paul’s daughter: Sophia Morgan LeCalsey of Andover, MN.
Lou LeCalsey was the past President and CEO of Tufco Technologies, a market leader in dry and wet wipes converting and printing. Tufco is headquartered in Green Bay, WI, and is now a private company but was publicly traded during the time of Lou’s Presidency (NASDAQ:TFCO).
Lou graduated from Franklin & Marshall College (Lancaster, PA) in 1962 where he was a star soccer goalkeeper and still holds all their goal keeping saves records. He was inducted into the Franklin & Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame in September of 2011. His involvement with soccer has continued through his life via his coaching of numerous amateur and Divisions I and III college teams in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Lou is the founding men’s head soccer coach hired by Vince Lombardi for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where his 1969 and 1970 teams went 22-4-2, were nationally ranked, received the University’s first post-season tournament bid in any sport and produced three All-America selections. Notably, the Captain of the US men’s soccer team to the 1972 Olympics was Captain of the 1970 UW-Green Bay soccer team. Lou was inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000 and remained an active supporter of University of Wisconsin-Green Bay athletics, particularly soccer. Another athletics related activity in which Lou was active was the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in which he served as President of the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of that organization.
In addition to his Baccalaureate degree from Franklin & Marshall College, Lou attended Drexel University (Phila., Pa.) and UW-Oshkosh for his Master’s in Business course work in Finance and Marketing. He has, also, received Executive Certificates in business from the University of Michigan and the Thunderbird American Graduate School of International Business. He is the first awardee to be recognized with University of Wisconsin-Green Bay honorary alumnus status conferred by Chancellor Shepard in March 2003. In addition, Lou received the Chancellor’s Award for his service to UW-Green Bay in 2001. A highlight of his affiliation with UW-Green Bay came on May 14th, 2016, when he was recognized with the highest award of UW-Green Bay, an honorary degree of “Doctor of Laws”, and Lou was the commencement speaker for the Spring class of 2016. In January 2020, Lou was honored with selection by UW-Green Bay as one of the 50 most influential leaders in the first 50 years of UW-Green Bay Athletics.
Lou was very proud of his military service. He served six years in the Marine Corps where he was a Platoon Sergeant in a “Force Reconnaissance” parachute and scuba qualified special operations unit attached to the 2nd Marine Division and saw deployments in the Cuban Missile crisis and the early years of the Vietnam War. In November 2016, Lou was recognized by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay for both his military service and his continuing work on behalf of active and retired military with the “Phoenix Hero Award “. In addition, all such future annual recognitions will be made as the “Lou LeCalsey Phoenix Hero Award “. Lou also recently received an award for his 65 years of service to the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay.
His professional career in business includes 30+ years of service with the Fortune 100 Company, Scott Paper, where his last assignment after 25 years in Manufacturing was in the role of Global Vice President at the time of the 1996 merger with Kimberly-Clark. He had work assignments in every one of the 13 North American Scott plants and the Scott world-wide headquarters in Philadelphia, Pa. prior to the merger with Kimberly-Clark.
After serving as a post-merger transition senior leader for Kimberly Clark, Lou became President and CEO of Tufco Technologies early in their 1997 fiscal year. Under his leadership Tufco was reinvented from a small contract converter of paper products for personal care to a manufacturer of wet and dry wipes for the household care, personal care, feminine care and medical markets and grew from $12.5 million in annual sales with 65 employees in 1997 to over $123 million with roughly 400 employees. Tufco Technologies, prior to Lou’s 2013 retirement, had grown to become North America’s largest contract manufacturer of branded wet and dry wipes, producing under contract with market leading consumer products companies (P&G, S. C. Johnson, 3M, Kimberly Clark, Reckitt-Benkeiser (Clorox), Johnson & Johnson, etc.).
Lou retired from Tufco in late March 2013. His business career entered a new phase later in 2013 with his management consulting business, Boston Consulting, LLC. At virtually the same time he, also, affiliated with Differentiating Strategies of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, which is a management consulting firm helping senior management of small and medium size businesses in go-to-market, technology, strategic planning and senior executive leadership skills development. Lou was also, serving as President of S & L Development Corp. a residential land development corporation putting in an upmarket subdivision (named Northern Exposure) located on County G on the North face of Scray’s Hill in the Town of Ledgeview, WI.
Lou served on several private company Boards of Directors and as well as on the Advisory Board of Bradford Ventures (White Plains, NY), which is an investments portfolio manager for leading trusts and individuals, including the Bessemer Trust. Additionally, he has been a guest lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Cofrin School of Business.
Since 1997 Lou’s primary non-work commitment had been in serving as the founding Chair of the UW-Green Bay Council of Trustees (“COT“) and was, also, the founding President of the UW-Green Bay Foundation. He stepped down as Chair of the UW-Green Bay Council of Trustees in April 2019 but remained active as an Emeritus member of the Council. Lou was especially involved with providing appropriate on-going situational and strategic counsel to the Phoenix men’s soccer program. Lou worked with each of the Chancellors that were at UWGB over the years and Lou was currently leading the project called “UWGB Men’s Soccer RISE Impact Initiative”.
Lou, also served on the Board of Advisors for the Brian LaViolette Foundation, was a Board member of several area private companies and had past service on the Board of the Green Bay YMCA.
Lou has mentored many students during his lifetime dedication to the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay system. Lou and his wife Sue created 3 endowed scholarships at UWGB with 2 in Nursing and 1 in Business along with a Nursing Lab named after them.
