Lenora "Lee" C. Mayer, age 87, of Pulaski, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 4, 1938 in Coldspring, MN, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Schreifels) Theis. Lee was a graduate of Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, MN.

Lenora met her soulmate, Delroy "Del" Mayer, shortly after he completed his military service. Lenora and Del were married June 2, 1959 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN. Then they moved to Green Bay. They welcomed five children. They continued raising their five children while farming together in both Abrams and Brookside from 1975-2000. When they retired from farming they built and moved to their dream home in Pulaski, where they resided for the last 25 years. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before Del preceded her in death, October 31, 2024, exactly one year before Lee passed.

Lee absolutely loved being a wife and mother. She loved everybody and made everyone feel like family. Lee and Del even opened their home to a young unwed mother to help support her during her unplanned pregnancy. When Lee became a grandmother and later a great grandmother it brought her even greater joy. Her faith in God and her family meant everything to her.

Lee was a devout Catholic and active member of the The Institute of Christ the King, locally at St. Patrick Oratory in Green Bay, WI. She was also a longtime member of the Catholic lay Dominicans.

Her passion was children, which sparked her greatest mission in life. Her mission started when Lee and her dear friend Dorothy O'Malley started the Shield of Roses. The shield represents the Rosary, with a rose to separate each decade of the rosary. The rose is a symbol of life. The Shield of Roses was to protect the lives of the unborn. They prayed 9 rosaries (a novena) once a week, no matter what the weather. Once they prayed in weather with -35 wind chill. They started praying in Grand Chute. Then after six months they discovered that the Medical Arts building in Green Bay was performing abortions. They added three more chapters. Finally in 2013, the abortion clinic at the Medical Arts building closed. Two of the Shield of Roses chapters prayed for 35 years. Now known as 40 Days for Life, (which is a continuation of the Shield of Roses) volunteers pray outside Planned Parenthood on Oneida Street, Green Bay, WI.

In the 80's they joined Birthright and started taking phone calls in their homes from girls with crisis pregnancies. They would meet the girls at St. Vincent Hospital that conducted pregnancy tests for them. Then they decided to get their own place to meet the girls and started the incorporation process. The A&A (Aid & Assisting) Alexandrina Center began in 1992 at the Sisters of Charity Convent in Green Bay. The Center was Co-founded by Lee Mayer and Dorothy O'Malley. Dorothy O'Malley was the driving force behind the business end. She is greatly missed since her passing in January 1999. The Alexandrina Center also opened the MOM's (Mother's of Mary) home to help unwed mothers in need. It was open for about eight years before it closed.

The A&A Alexandrina Center was located at several locations until it moved to their current location at 1600 Shawano Ave., Green Bay in 2019. They have recently expanded their newly named Alexandrina Pregnancy Resource Center and named the Donation Center after Lee & Del Mayer. This magnificent center now has 52 dedicated volunteers including 10 medical professionals. They give out nearly 20,000 diapers per month. Lee has spent nearly 50 years of prayer and relentless work to stop abortion and help provide life-affirming assistance for over 20,000 women and children who use the Center services. God only knows how many babies she has helped save from abortion along with all those connected in any way to helping the Center. Lee truly loved all the volunteers that have dedicated so much of themselves in their mission to save innocent unborn babies from the evils of abortion.
