Kimberly S. Collins, age 55, of Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, August 14th, 2024. She was born May 11, 1969 to the late Terrell Layman and Carol (Prenizio) Layman. After Kim graduated high school, she was nearly killed in an automobile accident. Kim had a long road to recovery after months in a coma. The care Kim received after that accident motivated her to become a certified nursing assistant. Kim spent the next three decades caring for the old, the sick, the lonely, and those who had lost their memory. Kim had extraordinary love, compassion, and empathy for those she cared for. She had touched so many hearts of the patients and family members of those she cared for. Often times, people would recognize Kim in public and thank her for the amazing care she provided to their loved ones.
Kim was married to Edward Stoker. They had the most amazing son Cory Andrew Stoker, on August 14th, 1992. Cory is her pride and joy, and she loved him so dearly. Kim was so proud of her son, his successes, and his marriage to his wonderful wife Megan Stoker (Solberg). She was also so proud of her “grand dogs” Oakley and Cooper, whom she gave such special love and attention to.
Kim’s mom, Carol, remarried after losing her father. She married Charles “Chuck” Fleischman of Lima, Ohio. Chuck raised Kim and she considered him her “dad”. Kim’s beloved younger brother, Kyle, and her father, Chuck, preceded her in death.
In 2001, Kim met her current husband, Keith Collins. Kim and Cory moved from Venice, Florida to Green Bay soon after, where Kim & Keith went on to get married on June 25th, 2004.
Kim also leaves behind her aunt, Patty Tepper, best friends Susie Hovanec, Julie Kenzler, Nicki Vander Heyden, and aunt’s Lori and Linda from Ohio.
Visitation will be held at New Comer Funeral Home on Thursday, August 22nd at 3:00pm. A service will follow at 5:30pm. Address: 340 S Monroe Ave, Green Bay, WI 54301.
Kim’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible staff at St. Vincent’s Hospital, specifically the ICU and 9th floor staff. There are no words that can describe how wonderful, talented, and caring the staff were during this difficult time.
