It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Katherine (Kathy) Marie Munson on Monday, May 9, 2022. Kathy passed away from natural causes at the age of 70 in Green Bay Wisconsin.
She was born in 1952 in Chicago Illinois to parents Walter and Barbra (Slusarczyk) Berg. Shortly after they moved to Lombard IL where she attended Fairwood Elementary, Lombard Junior High, and Glenbard East High School. She would further her education graduating from UW Stevens Point with a degree in Home Economics. In 1986 she married her husband of 28 years Edwin Munson and two years later they welcomed their son Samuel into the world. Throughout her life, Kathy worked to enrich and educate children as a child care worker, substitute teacher, Sunday school teacher, and dedicated den mother to a cub scout troop.
Kathy was devoted to her faith and worked as head secretary for 15 years at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield WI. In her down time, Kathy enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, going to craft shows, and supporting her local animal shelter. Kathy had a love for purple irises, even having one tattooed on her calf.
Kathy is survived by her son Samuel (Sara) Munson, step-sons Michael (Gabrielle) Munson and Mark (Misty) Munson. Her grand children Thomas, John, Cole, and Jack. Her sister Kristie Kruse (special friend Carl) and brother Peter (Kathy) Berg. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, her best friend Carole, and pets Molly and Renny. She is preceded in death by her former husband Ed, her parent Walter and Barbra, her in-laws LaVerne and Samuel, brother in-law Dave, nephew Joe, and numerous pets she deeply loved.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
