John E. Martinson

Our beloved father and husband, John Edward Martinson, age 90, of Green Bay, WI, passed away March 12th, 2023, after suffering a stroke. John was born on August 3rd, 1932, to Albert and Minnie Martinson in Ashland, WI. John's parents died when he was young, and his Aunt Lill raised him. After John graduated from Hudson High School, he obtained his Political Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Then, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School. After graduating in 1958, he worked as a trust officer at Kellogg-Citizens National Bank. In the mid-1960's, he co-founded Martinson and Westring law firm. After practicing law with various attorneys, he finished out his over 50 years of law with his son, Jeff, at Martinson Law Offices.
In 1959, John married his college sweetheart, Audrey Ganswindt. As a young man, John enjoyed sailing and singing in the Student Lutheran Choir with Audrey. Throughout his life, he had a passion for carpentry, woodworking, and he designed his home and office building. John and Audrey created many memories with their seven children through numerous camping adventures with the truck camper and later, the Sprinter motor home. Time with John often included conversation about classic cars, playing Smear, or receiving home improvement help and advice. He had a knack for fixing things, and it seemed that no project was beyond his abilities.
John was predeceased by his sister, Doris Wall, and his brother, Ken Martinson. He is survived by his wife Audrey; his seven children, Diane, Barb (Jerry), Deb (Craig), Jeff (Tracey), Gin (Chuck), Brian and Mary; his eleven grandchildren; and his eleven great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be officiated by Reverend Lori Swenson at Calvary Lutheran Church (1301 S Ridge Rd) in Green Bay on March 30th at 11:30am, with visitation from 9:30am to 11:15am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial be made to Ascension Lutheran Church in Allouez for the organ fund. John will be remembered and missed by many.
