Joan K. Korbas

Joan Karen Korbas, Age 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026. She was born on October 18th, 1938, to her parents Russell and Ione Lane. She grew up in Champaign, Illinois but moved to Wisconsin after securing a teaching position. She soon met her husband of fifty-three years, Kendall Lee Korbas, who passed on October 25th, 2025. 

Joan is survived by her son, Jason Korbas, Granddaughter, Jacqueline Fieck, Sister, Patricia Hogeland (Norman), Sister in Laws, Jeanne Nymoen and Judy (Terry) Collins, Niece Micki Elaine (Dylan), and countless other relatives who loved and cherished Joan. 

Joan loved teaching at Doty Elementary in the Green Bay School District as well as the Racine School District. She had taught in Iowa at the beginning of her career. Because she enjoyed teaching, after retirement she continued to volunteer in the Green Bay School District. Through her many adventures teaching, traveling with her husband, Ken, bowling on a women’s league every Wednesday, and enjoying a good play at a theater, she made many friends that added joy to her life. Seeing plays and musicals was a popular pastime for Joan. She enjoyed going to the Fireside Theater in Fort Atkinson, the Green Bay Community Theater, The Weidner Center at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay, and many other fascinating locations. When she wasn’t out in the world having adventures, she was inside watching Days of Our Lives or the cardinals with her rescued cats. She was a kind, caring, thoughtful woman who will be greatly missed. 

The family would like to thank Sarah and the GranCare Nursing Home – Unity Hospice staff for their excellent service during Joan’s time in their care. 

A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026 at Pamperin Park – East Hall 2801 County Road RK, Green Bay, WI 54303 between 11:30 AM to 3:00pm.
