Jo Ann Christensen

Jo Ann Christensen, age 80, a lifelong resident of Green Bay, WI, passed away peacefully at her home, Monday, May 26, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Green Bay, WI, January 20, 1945, daughter of the late David and Lorraine "Rainey" (VanderHeyden) DeVetter and was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, Class of 1963.

She continued her education at Green Bay School of Vocational & Adult Education, earning her LPN license in 1966. Jo Ann worked as an LPN for Hickory Grove Sanatorium and later for San Luis Medical & Rehab Center, retiring in 2012 after 45 years of loving care. Jo Ann married Byron Christensen and they were blessed with 3 children.

Jo Ann's family was her pride and joy. Spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren/great-grandchildren, was when she was happiest. She loved to watch them play in her back yard.

Jo Ann is survived by her children: Brian (Jeri Lynn) Christensen, Jody (Gwendolyn) Christensen and Melissa (Todd) Boucher; 9 grandchildren: Christopher Christensen, Avery Christensen, David Boucher, Alexander Christensen, Joseph Boucher, Abigail (Steven) Canterbury, Danielle (Kenny) Snyder, Nathan Christensen and Brandon Christensen; 6 great-grandchildren: Jemma Christensen, Henry Boucher, Austin Christensen, Delilah Canterbury, Lennon Christensen and Rose Canterbury and 6 siblings: Darlene (Ronald) Eland, Judy Pigeon, Virginia Bublitz, Barb Hansford, David (Judy) DeVetter and Tom (Joanne) DeVetter. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law: Doug Pigeon, Jerry Hansford and Elroy Bublitz, and the father of her children, Byron Christensen.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 9 to 11 AM. A memorial service will follow at 11 AM.
