Janet I. (Wickman) Martell

Janet I. (Wickman) Martell, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully after a short stay at Aurora Hospital on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born on March 1, 1932, in Door County to the late Harry and Edna Voight. She spent her childhood in Door County where she met and married the love of her life, Gerald Wickman on October 27, 1951. Janet and Jerry began their married life in Illinois where their 5 children were born. Later they made Green Bay their home where they became long time members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. After a decade in Green Bay, Jerry and Janet returned to Door County until Jerry’s death on June 13, 1978. In November of 1979 Janet married Cliff Martell. Jan and Cliff enjoyed traveling and golfing together until his death on September 21, 1987.

Janet was a wonderful Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had several jobs in her lifetime including being one of the first female managers at Sears in Green Bay. Janet and her husband, Jerry owned several businesses in Door County including Wickman Construction, Woodland Village Resort and Jan’s Boutique. Janet spent many of her winters at her home in Florida and her summers in Crivitz, WI. Janet enjoyed spending time with her family, golfing, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan who could often be found nervously pacing around her home during Packer football games.

Janet is survived by and will be dearly missed by her children: Don (Linda) Wickman, Debbie (Rick) Zahn, Dan (Tori) Wickman, David (Sue) Wickman and Dorlene (Bob) Schroeder; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Paul Voight and Wayne (Judi) Voight and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Wickman and Clifford Martell; brothers: Russell (Ann) Voight, Connie (Phyllis) Voight, Phillip (Rosemary) Voight, Dale (Pat) Voight; her sister, Helen (Grant) Hipp and sister-in-law, Yvonne Voight.

A visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 1 to 3 PM. A memorial service will follow at 3 PM. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Jerry, in Liberty Grove Cemetery, Ellison Bay, WI.

A memorial fund will be established at a later date in Janet's honor.
