Janet L. Brunette

July 29, 1934 — May 4, 2025

Green Bay

Janet L. Brunette, 90, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025 at Blue Jay Springs Assisted Living. She was born on July 29, 1934 to Paul and Edith (Mienke) Krueger in Oconto, WI. She graduated from Oconto High School in 1952. On January 29, 1953 she was united in marriage to Leroy G. Brunette at Annunciation Church in Green Bay. Together they raised a family and enjoyed 71+ years before Leroy's passing in 2024.

Janet enjoyed cooking, baking, hosting family gatherings, playing cards with the card club or Round Robins with friends with an occasional Bloody Mary of Malibu on the rocks. Janet and Leroy loved to travel. They enjoyed camping at Holtwood in Oconto, going to their cottage at Shawano Lake in summers, and wintering in Pharr, Texas. When the trips south became difficult they settled in Howard and eventually to assisted living. Janet was a mother like no other, full of joy and love, taking time to listen and hug away fear.

Janet is survived by her sons: Thomas, Daniel (Nora), and Russell (Kirsten); sons-in-law: Greg (Terry) Hornick and Donald (Mary) Johnson; sister, Geraldine Knee; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; daughters: Theresa Hornick and Mary Johnson; parents: Paul and Edith (Mienke) Krueger; siblings: Aida (Clarence) Olejniczak, Dorothey (Walter) Topel, Clarice (Ward) Bigelow, Marion (William) Worth, and Paul (Shirley) Kruger.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Becky, Jessica, Stefanie, Gavin, Heather and all the staff at Blue Jay Springs Assisted Living for Leroy and Janet's compassionate and loving care. Thank you for Heartland Hospice (Cindy) and Dr. Allison Rutten for superior love and care. And not to be left out is Becky Mullican (granddaughter) for the many appointments and her ladies touch with Mom's nails and fashion. Mary is watching proudly.
