Jane R. Temp, a cherished resident of Allouez, Wisconsin, departed this life peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on July 20, 1937, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, she was the beloved daughter of the late Emil and Anna (Fuchs) Temp. A proud graduate of Aquinas High School in LaCrosse, Jane pursued higher education at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, where she earned her teaching degree.
Jane devoted over three decades to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. Her career began in Merrill, Wisconsin, as a second-grade teacher before she moved to Green Bay, where she nurtured first graders at Elmore Grade School from 1963 to 1969, and McArthur Grade School from 1969 to 1975. She continued her dedication at FDR and Roosevelt schools until 1979, concluding her esteemed tenure at Baird Elementary School in 1994. Throughout these years, Jane’s commitment to education left an indelible mark on countless children and their families.
Beyond the classroom, Jane’s generosity and spirit of volunteerism enriched the Green Bay community profoundly. A longstanding member of the Allouez Historical Society, she actively supported numerous charities and was a devoted patron of local libraries, frequently donating books to inspire others with her love of reading. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life as an active member of St. Willebrord Parish.
Jane’s adventurous heart led her across the United States and beyond, with cherished travels to many countries, especially France, which she visited on several occasions. She embraced new experiences with enthusiasm and cultivated a wide circle of dear friends through her teaching, volunteer work, and community involvement.
A compassionate soul, Jane found joy in giving—to churches, family, community, and global causes alike. She especially cherished her role as a beloved aunt and great-aunt, warmly remembering every birthday and holiday of her nieces, nephews, and their descendants. Her spirited participation in antiquing excursions with her nephew and family and annual trips to Door County alongside her nieces to honor her late sister Lois were treasured traditions. Though plans for a family vacation to Tennessee this year remain unrealized, Jane’s legacy of love and adventure endures, reunited now with her sister.
Jane is survived by her nieces and nephew, along with eight great-nieces and nephews, and nineteen great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom were blessed by her unwavering affection and kindness. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lois.
Jane will have a Mass held in her honor on May 13, 2026 at 10:30 am, at St. Willebrord Catholic Church (209 S Adams St, Green Bay, WI 54301). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jane’s name to St. Willebrord Parish, St. John Ministries Men’s Shelter, or NEW Community Shelter are sincerely appreciated, continuing her lifelong dedication to serving others.
Jane R. Temp’s life was a testament to devotion, generosity, and a passionate embrace of the world around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
