James "Jim" R. Laes, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, in his hometown of Green Bay, Wisconsin, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on April 26, 1934, to Arthur and Cecelia Laes, and was raised to value the bond of family and community as one of fifteen children. He was a proud US Army Veteran, who volunteered during the Korean Conflict, where he developed his sense of duty and patriotism. Following his military service, he channeled his talents and work ethic into a 35 years career at Jim’s Auto Body, where his gifts and pride in work shone brightly. Jim brought a level of craftsmanship and dedication to his work that stood as a testament to his remarkable "can-do" spirit. A true jack of all trades, he was always ready to lend a helpful hand.
For 46 wonderful years, Jim shared his life and passion with his beloved wife, Patricia "Pat" Willems. Together, they spent many joyful years camping with friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Jim was a pillar of the community and beloved by his family for hosting the annual wiener roast. A vibrant event most recently attended by more than 40 relatives. But one of Jim's greatest delights was smoking meat in his smoker, and preparing the best booyah in the area to share with everyone in his community.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife Pat; his children, Lori (Fred) Anderson, Barbara (Kevin) Maloney, and Dan Laes; grandchildren Michael and Samantha; and his siblings Bobby, David, Sherry, Mary, and Bonnie. He is preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
Per Jim's wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life for all Friends and Family soon. Check back for a finalized date.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, bigger than life personality, strong sense of community, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
