Irene R. Chaney

Irene R. Chaney, age 84, of De Pere, peacefully passed away on May 8, 2025.

Born on May 15, 1940, to Elmer and Nadine (Dixon) Bresett in Scottsville, New York, Irene brought joy and love to all who knew her. On August 22, 1959, she married William L. Chaney, and together they cherished 32 years of life in Kankakee, Illinois. The couple retired and moved to De Pere in 1991, where they continued to create wonderful memories.

Irene had a deep affection for her granddaughters and cherished spending as much time with them as she could. She loved camping with her family at their camp site up north, as well as luncheons with her friends. Her passion for gardening also brought her immense joy and fulfillment.

Irene is survived by her beloved sons, Patrick (Michelle) Chaney and Michael Chaney, along with her granddaughters, Morgan Chaney, Hannah Chaney, and Lauren (Christian) Peters. Additionally, she is remembered by her sister-in-law, Jean Chaney, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her parents, Elmer and Nadine.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S Monroe Ave, Green Bay, WI 54301, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, officiated by Father Ryan Krueger. A visitation will also be held in Kankakee, IL, on Monday, June 9th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 428 S Indiana Ave, Kankakee, IL 60901, with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 AM.
