Harland Dale "Woody" Wood, age 94, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026 surrounded by family.
He was born on November 13, 1931 to the late Arthur and Rhoda Wood in Iron Mountain, MI. Woody was one of six children, and grew up in Suring, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the United States Army at the young age of 17, where he served as a Medic. During his service in Korea, he was wounded and was honored with a Purple Heart. After his military service, Woody returned home to Wisconsin where he found a 25+ year career as an Assembler at Giddings and Lewis in Kaukauna. On January 7, 1956, he married the former Faye Francois. Harland and Faye spent 62 wonderful years together before her passing in 2018. The couple spent their lives together in Green Bay and they were blessed with four children.
Woody was a car enthusiast, and along with Faye they were members of the "Nifty Fifties Car Cruisers". He was a proud private pilot, and was first licensed in the late 70's. He owned several different aircraft over the years, and was a proud EAA member. He was even fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of a 747. Woody loved dogs, he enjoyed watching the Packers, watching NASCAR, and for many years attended the sprint races at Road America in Elkhart Lake. He enjoyed his weekly breakfast meetings with his friends, or as they called themselves "The Knights of the Round Table". During which time they discussed just about anything, telling far too many BS stories and giving each other a good natured ribbing. Woody had quite the sense of humor.
Harland is survived by his three loving children, Marty Wood, Todd Wood, and Ellen (Mark) Lambrecht, his five grandchildren; Shawn (Jennifer) Wood, Janell Wood, Andrea Lambrecht, Alex Lambrecht, and Cassie (Victor) Hernandez, and four great-grandchildren; Savannah Wood, Annelise Wood, Logan Wood, and Emma Lambrecht. He is further survived by his sister, Grace Magee, his sister-in-law, Mary Jo Francois, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye, their son, Dean Wood, his daughter-in-law; Diane Wood, his parents, Arthur and Rhoda Wood, his parents-in-law; William and Vernelda Francois, his siblings; Gladys (the late Donald Gilligan and the late Norman Ducaine) Gilligan-Ducaine, Ruby (Eldon) Sjoquist, Dixie (Henry) Stage, Calvin Wood, brothers-in-law; Myron Magee, and Frederick Francois, and many beloved canine companions
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home (340 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay). With Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 am, with Military Honors to conclude the service.
Woody's Family would like to extend a special thank you to the Nurses and Staff of the AJRCC, especially Deneen, Bobbie, Karen, Wendy, Heidi, Linda, and Tim "The Minister", as well as all those who provided exceptional care to Dad.
