Gustave "Gus" L. Ness, 79, of Green Bay, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, surrounded by his family. Gustave Leon Ness was born at home on February 25, 1945, to Gustav & Agnes (Cross) Ness delivered by the late Dr. L. Rosa Minoka Hill.
On October 23, 2010, Gus married Lesley Metoxen.
Gus worked in the trades industry of road construction. He retired in 2011 after many years from Northeast Asphalt Company. He was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 139. Gus was a member of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.
Gus held many titles in life including son, brother, brother-in-law, father, father-in-law, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, neighbor, friend, and a wonderful husband. Gus was a very giving person, always putting others first. He enjoyed spending time with his family, shopping, watching movies, and rummaging.
Gus is survived by his wife, Lesley; his daughters: Kristine (Christopher) Curtis, Kristy King (Danny) and Monica Parr; one son, Nick (Jessica) Webster; his grandchildren: Michael, Keana, Aiden, Milly, Onawa, Mashia, Warren, and Lysett; and one great-granddaughter, Oceanna; and his sister-in-law: Annabeth (the late Donald) Ness, Pauline (the late Ervin) Ness, Marilyn (the late Ronald) Ness, Audrey (Wayne) Wishart, Larae (the late John) Gower, Carol Manning, Diana King, Barbara Metoxen, Brenda Metoxen, Vicki Metoxen, Linda (Vincent) Powless, Sue (Antonio) Martinez, and Michelle (Blair) Braaten; and one brother-in-law, Gerald (Sharon) Schuyler.
Gus is preceded in death by his parents, Gustav & Agnes (Cross) Ness; his brothers: Ervin, Donald, and Ronald Ness; his sisters, Marjorie Creapeau and Mildred Peterson; his first wife, Darlene (Cornelius) Ness; and his daughter, Tammy Ness; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nick & Mary Metoxen; and one brother-in-law, John Gower.
Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S Monroe Ave, Green Bay, on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9 am until the time of the service at 11 am with Linda Powless officiating.
