It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Jane (Darling) Meyer, age 82, of Green Bay. She peacefully departed this life on Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on June 27, 1943, in Milwaukee, WI, Elizabeth was the cherished daughter of the late Irwin and Josephine (Guilliani) Darling and a proud graduate of Rhinelander High School, Class of 1962.

Throughout her life, Elizabeth’s vibrant spirit shone brightly. She was a dedicated member of the Drum and Bugle Corps during her high school years, and her early experiences working alongside the nuns at St. Mary’s Hospital made a lasting impression on her heart. After graduation, she embraced new adventures by moving to Green Bay to pursue her education in cosmetology, a field in which she took great pride.

Elizabeth’s journey, which began with her marriage to Richard Simac, was marked by her dedication to her family. Though their marriage ended after 17 years, she found love again with John “Jack” Meyer in the late 1980s, creating a warm and welcoming home for their blended family and many grandchildren. Her role as a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy, and she embraced every moment of family life.

Among her many passions, Elizabeth cherished the serene moments spent fishing and camping in St. Germaine with her loved ones. Her green thumb nurtured countless plants and gardens, bringing beauty into the lives of those around her. In quieter moments at home, she delighted in her favorite television shows, especially her beloved “Housewife” series, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Deborah “Debbie” Simac, Patricia “Patti” (Santos) Mejia, Rhonda Simac, and Richard “Rick” (Mary) Simac; her adoring grandchildren: Jason Byng, Brandon (Mattie) Blake (and their children: Charlie, Everly, and Benny), Danielle Dupey, Connor Behnke, Luke and Emmy Mejia; and her sister, Penelope Fortier. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will fondly remember her warmth and spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband Jack, and her brother, Anthony Darling.

A visitation to celebrate her life will be held at Newcomer Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI) on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 1 to 3 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3 PM.

In this difficult time, Elizabeth’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff and caretakers at Edenbrook and Unity Hospice for their unwavering support and compassion.

Elizabeth Jane Meyer will be deeply missed, but her love will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
