Douglas "Doug" T. Ropson, 65, of Green Bay, passed away after a courageous year-long battle with cancer on August 10, 2025, with family by his side.
Doug was born on January 12, 1960, in Green Bay, the son of Thomas and Audrey (Prokash) Ropson. He graduated from Preble High School in 1979 and right after high school graduation, he attended NWTC, where he earned his degree in Welding. He was a member of Local 298 (now Local 400) Plumber's Steamfitter for forty-five years. He retired in 2017.
On September 27, 1991 Doug married Kathy Tesch at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Doug and Kathy raised two sons in Green Bay. Doug was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially up North at his parents' cottage in Lakewood. He loved hanging out with his two boys, any time they called to get together Doug never hesitated to make those plans with them. He was passionate about muscle cars, snowmobiling and boating.
Doug and Kathy have been long term members of St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
Douglas is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; two sons, Thomas (Special Friend, Sierra) Ropson and Brent (Special Friend, Erika) Ropson; his parents, Thomas and Audrey; siblings, Craig (Jodi) Ropson of Green Bay, and Todd (Dawn) Ropson of Leawood, Kansas; Kathy's parents, Wayne and Arlene Tesch; sister-in-laws, Sherry (Rodney) McMillan and Karen Tesch; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 9AM until 11AM at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Ln, Green Bay, WI 54302. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow after at 11AM at the church. Interment will take place at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
