Donald A. Marcure

Donald (Don) Marcure, of Green Bay, WI, passed peacefully at Odd Fellow Home on Monday, August 3rd, 2026. Don’s death came just over one year after that of his wife, Eileen Arens Marcure, who was greatly cherished by Don.

Don and his twin sister Donna were born in Rhode Island but lived the majority of their adult lives in Florida. Both twins joined the Air Force in 1961 at age 18. Don was proud of his role as a fueling specialist, serving from1961-65 during the Vietnam War. During that time, Don and Donna were featured on the popular T.V. show “To Tell the Truth”, highlighting the unusual story of opposite gender twins serving at the same time during the Vietnam conflict. Don described the experience as lots of fun and a chance to meet some celebrities.

Don worked in a variety of industries over his career. He also enjoyed many hobbies, including photography, researching and creating family coats of arms, swimming and golf. His greatest interest was the sport of archery and he was an accomplished archer. Don and his dear friend Steve met through archery over fifty years ago and traveled across the United States and around the world pursuing the administrative side of the sport they loved. Don was a member of the Board of Governors of the National Archery Association and also served as its President. He was also a certified National Judge and International Judge. He served on several committees through World Archery. He was also an accomplished Director of Shooting, culminating in his role as Director of Shooting at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He served as Judge or Director of Shooting at numerous World Championships. Don was the Team Manager for various United States Archery Teams attending additional World Championships, one such being the 1987 World Championships in Adelaide, Australia. Through his many years of volunteering and traveling around the world, he made friends from dozens of countries.

While Don did not have biological children of his own, he helped to raise step-daughter Bonny for ten years of her life while their family lived in Fort Lauderdale. Bonny has fond memories of Don enjoying the outdoors and spending endless time in their pool. He was a caring and compassionate step-father to her.

Don and Eileen met in Plantation, FL in 1990 and married in February of 1993 in a fun celebration in Las Vegas. During their 32-year marriage, they had several dogs, typically preferring west highland terriers. Over the past year, Don continued to have the company of his westie Ferguson, now being cared for by Don’s former care-giver Nicole. Don truly enjoyed Nicole’s company and was grateful she could continue to visit with Fergie at the nursing home.

In the late 1990s, Don and Eileen moved to Green Bay, WI, for the purpose of helping Eileen’s parents, Mary and George Arens. They were amazing supports to them over the years. Don enjoyed golfing with George and his brothers-in-law Rich, Steve and Tom.

Don had a fun sense of humor. He always had a joke or prank to keep you laughing, even in some trying and stressful times. He is remembered for having a kind word and smile for everyone.

Don is survived by his step-daughter, Bonny Goff, of Florida and her family. He is further survived by Eileen’s siblings, Margie Davis of Albany, N.Y., Bridget and Tom Jones of La Crescent, MN, Gerry Arens and partner Carlynn of Hawaii, Teresa and Tony Bruner of Tucson, AZ, and Sarah and Steve Heck of Sun Prairie, WI. Don is also survived by one niece, four nephews and two great-nephews.

Preceding Don in death were his twin sister Donna Marcure, his mother, father Albert, and step-father Manny.

Bonny and Eileen’s siblings will be forever grateful to Don’s close friend Denver and his wife Kori, who spent time with Don and helped him out in countless situations. Don enjoyed their company a great deal. We are also grateful for Shandi and T.J., Don’s neighbors, who were caring and supportive friends. Don felt lucky to live in such a friendly neighborhood. We are also grateful to Tobias for first helping Denver with Don’s needs and then helping to prepare Don’s home for sale.

Don received excellent care over this past year from the team at Home Instead homecare agency, his providers at area clinics and most recently, the staff at Odd Fellow Home in Green Bay, both the rehabilitation unit and the nursing home unit. When Don began to decline, it was the OFH staff and physicians who recommended hospice care for Don, particularly Anna the supervising nurse. Unity Hospice provided those services and insured that Don was comfortable and pain free in the last week of his life.

At Don’s request, there will be no services. Our thanks to all who loved and cared for Don!
