Donald James Bemowski August 27, 1939 - April 4, 2026
Donald James Bemowski, age 86, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 4, 2026. Born on August 27, 1939, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Donald was the son of the late Steven and Alvina Bemowski. He was the second of three children, growing up with a foundation of love and family that he carried throughout his life.
A graduate of the Neenah High School Class of 1958, Don was a standout baseball player for the Rockets, beginning a lifelong passion for baseball and softball. On September 9, 1961, he married his beloved wife, Joanna. Together, they raised their family in Neenah, where Don was known as a kind man, a devoted husband, and a loving father with an easy-going spirit and a fun sense of humor.
Donald placed his faith in Jesus Christ in 1973. At that moment, his current and future sin was covered by the grace of Jesus and replaced with Christ's righteousness. He found great joy in serving the Lord, dedicatedly working in Awana Clubs for 21 years and driving the church bus to ensure children could attend services. Throughout his life, he was a witness to others, eagerly sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed baking cookies for others and was known as “Don the cookie mon”.
Donald is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Joanna; his children, Joy (John), Holly (Juan), and Chad (Patti); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Brigitte (Jeremiah), Chase (Wendy), and Brooke; and great grandchildren Henry, Sophia, Charlotte, and Sierra. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth; his sister, Karen; and his grandson, Lucas.
In his final days, Donald expressed profound gratitude for his family. He took great comfort in their presence-laughing, joking, singing songs about Jesus, and sharing his favorite Bible verses until the very end.
