Listen to Obituary

Debra J (Jourdan) Cornelius, age 61 passed away on May 12, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer following her diagnosis in October 2025. She fought with courage and determination until her last breath.

Debbie was born November 24,1964 to Rose A. Maes (LovenDurkey) and Randall E. Jourdan. Debbie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend whose kindness, strength and love for her family touched so many lives.

Debbie dedicated 32 years of service to working for the Oneida Tribe, ending her career as a blackjack dealer/floor supervisor. Following her time with the tribe she spent a short time working for Kwik Trip as the “chicken lady” before resigning due to her progressing diagnosis. She took pride in her work and the many friendships she built throughout the years. She especially embraced the friends that turned into family.

More than anything, Debbie loved her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She found joy in bringing everyone together, and family gatherings naturally became centered at her house. No one ever left her home hungry, especially during the holidays with Thanksgiving and Christmas being her favorite meals to prepare. She made every gathering feel special and magical for anyone who walked through the door. She was known for hosting beautifully decorated themed parties for her children and grandchildren that always amazed anyone who attended. Debbie also enjoyed thrifting and going “hit the machines” with her best friend Dar. She also loved her coffee time with sister Lisa. Outside of caring for those she loved, Debbie found peace in working in her yard, updating her home any chance she could and spending time doing arts & crafts, often losing herself in them for hours at a time.

Debbie is survived by her children Justin (Wanonah), Bobbie (Tina), Tyler; step-mother, Mary Metoxen; her siblings, Sonny, Mike (Lisa), Lyle (Tera), Jerry (Tami), Candy and Alicia; her grandchildren Mason, Trinity, Jeffrey, Neegee, Jaxson, Eli, Leila, Gracie, Jossy, Marie and Blake; as well as great-grandchildren, extended family members and close friends Darlene and April.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Ashley, mother Rosie, father Randy, brother Bill , brother Gerrid and husband Joe.

Debbie will be remembered for her loving heart, creativity, strength and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her memory will live on in the traditions she created and the countless lives she touched. Her children find peace and comfort knowing she is reunited with her baby girl Ashley who Debbie missed so much.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting assistance with the ongoing care of her Grandson Neegee who Debbie has been caring for since the passing of his mom. Donations can be made to the caretaker of her grandson : Bobbie Kazaluckas

The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the oncology team at St. Vincent Hospital for the care, compassion, and support shown throughout this difficult journey. We are especially grateful to Melissa and Megan from oncology and Julia from 6th floor ICU whose kindness, comfort and genuine care meant more to our family than words can fully express.
