Listen to Obituary

David Schoepp, of Green Bay, just before his 92nd birthday, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on November 13, 2025. He was born on November 14, 1933 to Mathias Sr. and Violet (Leuthjohann) Schoepp in Green Bay.

David attended SS Peter and Paul Grade School, and was a graduate of East Green Bay High School, class of 1952. On scholarship, he continued his education at St. Norbert's College, where he participated in ROTC. David then went on to start his printing career at Steubie's Printing Company. During his time there, he made deliveries to the Green Bay Press Gazette and always asked if they had an opening available. By chance, he crossed paths with the editor of the Press Gazette and was offered a job. David started his career at the Green Bay Press Gazette, and worked there for over 50 years. He earned a supervisor position of the Ads and Layout Department, and retired in that position the day the Press Gazette closed their doors at their local Green Bay building. David worked additional jobs to support his family and once was asked, "How can you be so happy this early in the morning before going to your full time job?" His quote, "If I can't be happy doing what I want to do, I will be happy doing what I have to do." At that time, he was a produce manager at Super Value. He often stocked shelves after his full time shift.

David was a lifelong parishioner of SS Peter and Paul Parish. David was an active member of the choir for 25 years.

On May 29, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Mardell May Bowman at SS Peter and Paul Church. They were blessed with 72 years of loving marriage.

David was an avid walker, he walked to work each day and for his enjoyment of the outdoors. He also enjoyed bike riding and spending time in nature. He loved to fish, hike, snowshoe, and camp with his family. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed watching the games. David and Mardell purchased a small cabin in northern Wisconsin and with the help of their family, he rebuilt the cabin to become a place of family love and joy. He spent much of his time there fishing, taking peaceful walks around the lake, frogging and toading with his grandchildren, and enjoying nights by the campfire.

He is survived by his wife, Mardell Schoepp, children, Michael (Joan) Schoepp, Lenore Younkle, Pamela (Bill) Noll, Lisa (Ron) Plog, and Nadine Schoepp; 17 grandchildren: Maiya, Jeremiah, Alicia, Nathan, Maria, Jacob, Anna, Marques, Isaiah, Rebekah, Samuel, Josiah, Graham, Krysta, Tarrah, Justin, and Alyssa; 22 great-grandchildren; his brother, Peter Schoepp; David is further survived by nieces and nephews, other loved ones, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Michelle May Weber; son-in-law, David Younkle; his grandchildren, Michael Schoepp Jr. and Ashley Plog; and his brothers and sisters: Phyllis Schoepp, Mathias Jr. Schoepp, Nancy Biersteker, and Linda Oligney.

David's family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses at Unity Hospice who guided them in their dad's home care along with Home Instead Care Pros who tended to his daily care. They would also like to thank David's neighbors, Steve and Bev, for their friendship and support through the years.
