David W. Patton

David W. Patton passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at the age of 82. David was born to V.W. and Dena (Krull) Patton in Butler County, IA on November 27, 1943. He was raised in Iowa and attended school in Marble Rock, Rockford and Mason City at Northern Iowa University. He was united in marriage to Linda Stingley, April 13, 1963 in Rockford, IA.

David's career was in the grocery business, beginning in 1969. In 1977, he moved with his family to Green Bay, where he was employed by Red Owl as a grocery buyer for the division. He became general manager for the Sureway Stores in 1983, then Jubilee stores in 1994, and eventually headed the group who built Green Bay's first Festival Foods. He won numerous awards from the Wisconsin Grocers Association and was honored with the IGA International Retailer of the Year in 1994.

David was an avid golfer and lifelong car guy. Through the years he made many friends through these pursuits and remained a loyal friend to all. He also enjoyed long rides and the many trips back to Iowa to see family and the drives to see the fall foliage in his favorite time of year. David was a loving and caring husband and father and will be missed by his family always.

He is survived by his wife, Linda and son, Jeffrey (Lori), his granddaughter, Jenny (Sam) and grandson, Nick (Kaylyn), great-grandchildren, Adalida Jo and John Henry, his sisters, Bette (the late Walter) Kosich and Edi (Roger) Merfeld and loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Julia Merfeld.

Private services will be held by David's family at a later date.
