Charlie Wauters

Charlie Wauters, age 75, a lifelong resident of Green Bay, passed away peacefully at his home, Friday, April 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 17, 1949, son of the late Charles and Dora (Quandt) Wauters and was a proud graduate of Green Bay East High School, Class of 1967.

Charlie went on to earn an Associate's Degree in power engineering from NWTI. He held various jobs in the Green Bay area, including security at K-Mart and maintenance at Packerland Packing. Eventually, he began a career of over 30 years for Wisconsin Public Service at the JP Pulliam Power Plant, where he worked his way up to the position of boiler operator. He took great pride in his career and great pleasure in the coworkers that he considered family.

Charlie met Claire Van Schyndel in 1969. The couple married, February 20, 1971 at SS Peter & Paul Parish and they celebrated their 54th Anniversary this year.

Charlie could often be found tinkering with cars, models and other projects. He was a talented handyman and loved teaching his skills to others as he helped them with their projects. He was an avid fan of every Wisconsin sports team and a professional wrestling enthusiast. Charlie was well known for his caring heart and generous nature. He always placed the needs of others before his own. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Claire; 3 children: Sara (Steve Douglas) Wauters, C.J. (Hope Liu) Wauters and Jerry (partner, Marci Ricker) Wauters; 7 grandchildren: Jordan (Kelli Ruati) Wauters, Travis Wauters, Isabelle (Jon) Boldt, Grace, Seth, Ethan and Helen "Ellie" Wauters; a great-grandson, Jonathan Culver and a sister, Sue (Roger) Jacques. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum (2770 Bay Settlement Rd., Green Bay, WI), Friday, April 25, 2025 from 10 AM to 12 NOON. A funeral service will follow at 12 NOON. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Brown County Humane Society in Charlie's name are appreciated.
