Betty Bellmore passed away in her sleep with her son and daughter-in-law at her side on Sunday, May 24, 2026. She had a short battle with cancer that took her in less than two months after diagnosis.

Betty Jane Hill Bellmore was born June 28, 1945, in Escanaba, Michigan to Arthur and Delphine Lusardi Hill. Raised in Rock, Michigan, until age 10 when the family moved to Marquette, Michigan, (broken-hearted thinking her life was over) only to discover her lifelong love of the area. In 1960, she met her soul mate Howard Norman Bellmore. They married a year later at the ages of 19 and 16. They became parents of their only child, Michael, in 1963. The Bellmore family lived in Marquette and Big Bay until finally moving to Negaunee in 1969, where they resided for the next 42 years. They converted a triplex to a single-family home. Betty worked side by side with Howard remodeling their home. She should have had her own HGTV show.

Betty had several careers in the Negaunee area including working in retail (at the Dime Store), bar tending at several establishments, and managing Rolly's Crystal Room restaurant for over 10 years. She then found her true calling when she enrolled in classes through the Marquette County Health Department graduating as salutatorian in her class) as a home health care provider. Her patients adored her, and many families sent letters singing her praises.

Betty was an animal lover, an artist, a dancer, a poet and an excellent creative writer, and even a singer in a band! She made friends everywhere she went even if she was simply at a restaurant for dinner. Betty sold Tupperware beginning in 1973, she sold Avon for six years and by 1982 she was selling Park Layne Jewelry.

Always up to something by the mid 1980's she was a custom cake baker, and what a baker she was! In the 1990's she was selling crafts in consignment shops, while this might be common today, this was in the 90's. What an entrepreneur!

Betty and Howard retired to Green Bay, Wisconsin in 2011 due to health conditions. Howard went to heaven on June 13th, 2025, after 63 years of marriage.

Betty is survived by son, Mike, and his wife, Eileen, of Stiles, Wisconsin; sister, Sandra Hill Culver of Green Bay; nephew, David Culver (Mary), of Little Rock, Arkansas; and niece, Janice Culver Wieler (Randy), of Mount Prospect, Illinois. She also leaves behind her great niece, Amelia, and great nephew, Lucas. Betty is also survived by a brother-in-law, David Bellmore, and sister-in-law, Christine Koski, as well as many nieces and nephews of the Bellmore family. Her nephew, Kevin Culver, pre-deceased her. Betty was able to celebrate her life on May 9, 2026, with close family members.

A memorial will be held for her this summer.
