Atamunoabalari “Thompson” Ibibo, 70, of Okrika, Nigeria, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, at home. Thompson moved to the U.S. in 1977 to study economics at UWGB. Thompson’s outgoing and charismatic personality brightened the days of those lucky enough to know him. His infectious laugh could be heard wherever he went as he always managed to bump into someone he knew. Many of his lifelong friends and acquaintances came from his 10+ joyful years at AMS.
A big Packer fan, Thompson spent the last 12 years of his career proudly serving the Packer’s Proshop. He was an avid walker and put in hundreds of miles trekking the Fox River Trail. As an OG crime junkie, Thompson enjoyed weekly episodes of Dateline, 48 Hours, and 20/20. When he wasn’t keeping up with nefarious goings on, Thompson was a diligent caretaker of his home and yard; he was especially fond of his Peony plants. Known for his cooking skills, Thompson crafted delicious meals to nourish his family and friends, his Nigerian pancakes are a particular favorite of his family. Community was a top priority for Thompson, he regularly served as an usher at Union Congregational Church and was quick to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends, and family alike.
He is survived by his younger brother Tamunokuro, wife of 40 years, Suzan and his children, Isabelle and Andrew.
