David Lee Frizzo of Green Bay was welcomed with open arms by our Triune God on Monday, October 4, 2021, at the age of 76.
David was born on October 29, 1944, in Crystal Falls, Michigan, the youngest of three children, to the late Jeano and Audrey (Davis) Frizzo. David was raised in the upper peninsula of Michigan in the village of Alpha and graduated from Alpha High School in 1962. He went on to study at Northern Michigan University (NMU) but after completing just two semesters he decided to pause his education and join the US Army. He served his country for two years with the 4th Infantry Division - one of those years was served in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
After returning from the war, he completed his teaching degree at NMU and then moved to the “big city” of Green Bay to begin a career in education that would span 35 years. David loved being a teacher for the wonderful kids he worked with and for the many unforgettable colleagues he taught with throughout his career, especially his team in House 6-3 at Lombardi Middle School, where he would retire from in 2005.
David’s love for teaching didn’t hold a fire to his love for God and family. Not long after moving to Green Bay, David met his true love, Sue Cuish, they married on August 20, 1971 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past summer. Together they raised two wonderful children, Angela and Adam. Always present and involved, David put family first and always provided supportive, nurturing love and guidance - attending dance recitals, building skateboard ramps, helping with homework, home repairs, caring for in-laws, moving kids cross-country, the list goes on and on. “Husband” and “Dad” were his most cherished titles - the only title he would come to love more was the title of “Grandpa” to Stella, Davis, and Nadia.
Beyond family and teaching, David’s two favorite pastimes revolved around sports - namely, volleyball and golf. David played volleyball for several years before becoming a revered referee at Mr. Jerry’s and The Bar. He treasured the wonderful players and friends he met on the court over the years. His other pastime passion was golf. There was no adventure he enjoyed more than traveling the extra mile to experience a new course - whether in the UP, Kentucky, Kansas City, Myrtle Beach, or hidden gems throughout Wisconsin - any opportunity to share a round of golf with friends or family was priceless.
David was a man of true character. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, son, uncle, cousin, and friend. David is dearly missed and survived by his beloved wife, Sue; children: Angela (Chad) Lillethun, Adam (Jamie) Frizzo; his adored grandchildren: Stella Frizzo, Davis Frizzo, Nadia Lillethun; sister: Janice (Darrill) Peltier; brother: Robert (Susan) Frizzo; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents: Jeano and Audrey Frizzo; in-laws: Orville and Sylvia Cuish, Donald and Sandra (Cuish) Van; and nephew, Stephen Peltier.
