Jerold "Jerry" Wendt
1929 - 2018

Jerold "Jerry" Wendt, 89, of DePere, WI passed away unexpectedly Wednesday October 24th. He was born June 21, 1929 to the late Paul and Selma (Birr) Wendt. He grew up in Oconto Falls and married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Lucas on December 27, 1952. Jerry served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

Shortly after the service, Jerry and Nancy moved to Green Bay and he started his own service station business with Standard Oil. He was well respected in the community and retired in 1987. Jerry was a charter member of the De Pere Lions Club since 1971. He served as President from 1977-78 and also received the club’s highest award, The Melvin Jones Fellow award.

The family spent many years up at White Potato Lake with extended family, friends and relatives.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy; 5 children: Larry (Gail) Wendt, Jay (Debbie) Wendt, Steve (Cathy) Wendt, Stacey (Gary) VanLanen and Bonnie (Steve) Vincent; grandchildren: Brooklynne (Luke), Dustin (Katie), Chelsea (Jon), Curtis, Allison (Marcus), April, Ciara, Janelle, Kasey, Jaime (David), Russell (Donna) and Sadie (Joe) and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Otis (Claramae) and Gilbert (Bernie) Wendt and an infant brother, Lee.

Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church (321 S. Madison St., Green Bay), Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 2 to 4 PM. A funeral service will follow at 4 PM with full military honors. Burial will be in Volk Family Cemetery, Oconto Falls, Monday, October 29, 2018.
